Just reading the title may bring some thoughts & images to mind…you may even be laughing at how drastically different those two weekends can look. Let’s explore some of the main differences of this particular scenario.
Guys: Outhouse… followed by graphic stories of what their experience was like. At least they made an effort to spruce it up with a throw rug and offered air freshener.
Girls: 3 Fully finished pretty bathrooms to choose from. No comment necessary when exiting.
Guys: Hot dogs for dinner with a side of Doritos all chased down with a Gatorade. Dessert? Powdered sugar donuts. Breakfast? Powdered sugar donuts and another Gatorade with bacon of course. They forgot to pack the coffee. Meals planned 1 day in advance.
Ok… in the spirit of honesty and full disclosure. One dad did indeed whip up fajitas Saturday night.
High five!
Girls: Organic pasta covered in homemade marinara sauce that had been simmering for 6 hours. Tossed salad. Dessert: Homemade organic brownies topped with Gelato. Breakfast? Freshly fried up hash-browns, sausage, eggs (pasture raised of course) and fruit salad. Hot organic tea with local raw honey and homemade almond milk creamer. Meals planned a week in advance.
Guys: Washing hands in melted ice from cooler or bottled water or not washing at all. No confirmation of soap. Fyi, the bottle of hand sanitizer I sent came home still sealed.
Girls: Hmmmm…shall I choose the Lemon Trader Joe’s soap in the kitchen or the Myers Green Apple Soap in the 1/2 bath or there is the homemade foaming hand soap with Melaleuca and Wild Orange essential Oils.
Guys: Activities of choice…shooting guns at any non moving piece of junk they could find, riding a go cart around with mud flying in their faces, watching movies that the dad’s deemed appropriate that made the mom’s cringe.
I love him but I’m not sure I’d kiss that face!
Girls: Painting, talking, giggling for 2 days straight. Pinterest board of ideas was started 2 weeks prior.
Guys: Passing gas. Instead of saying “excuse” me they rate it on a scale of 1-10 and fist bump each other. Same goes for burps.
Thankfully, no photo available!!!
Girls: We didn’t have any of that nonsense.
Guys: Sleeping in dirty trailer on old mattresses..sheets optional… with lots of bugs
No photo available!!!
Girls: In our own beds, AC blowing at a comfortable level, sheets smelling of essential oil spray and diffuser with uplifting oils running all day.
Can we give a HUGE pat on the back for the dad’s that actually did remember to take pictures with their phones and text to us so that we could use them in scrapbooks and also see that our kids were alive and well?
So, those were just a few of the highlights. Now that we’ve all had a good chuckle…let’s take a peek at the results of the girls time together!
My daughter and I did not get the memo about wearing tie-dyed t-shirts…not a good way to start the day! Do I even own one?
Three trips to multiple crafts stores (with coupons!) over a two week period and 100 texts, easily, to be sure we would not duplicate colors and have all the necessary items available to us.
Not sure what prompted me to spend 6 hours painting farm animals, but I just had the urge. I figure I will hang them up in my future chicken coop…you know…when I have that farm someday! Did you read about my goat?
I have this thing for owls.
“HOPE” is my “word”. You can read about it here.
My neighbors oldest daughter takes painting lessons! Serious talent!
Drum roll please….. here are the finished projects!
I don’t want to leave out our guest of honor for the weekend… The intern that currently lives with us! He was so excited to join us for a few hours to make something for his mom! How sweet is that! Of course he did not turn down the pasta dinner. What 20 year old would?
The boys came home sweaty, dirty, smelly & exhausted.
Regardless, we all had our own type of fun…to each his own!

So…tell me… what funny comparisons do you have: Girls weekend Vs. Guys weekend?
