I mean, there is nothing wrong with an avocado green toilet, shower and sink… if that’s what you think is groovy… me? Not so much! Good bye!
We had to work with the same footprint. No addition for the kids. Poor kids. Suffer.
{always fun to see what layers of flooring show up as you start tearing out!}
It ALL got torn out…down to the bare bones. THANKFULLY we didn’t run in to any MAJOR issues in this room {besides the idiot that installed the new tub which then required the most ridiculous amount of “trim work” to patch up all the areas nothing met up right!}. God does give grace during renovations… sometimes! There was a layer of some super 70’s yellow flowery wall paper that we had to tear off the wall and put to rest. The old vanity is now covered in chicken poop. The old toilet is being saved by hubby {don’t ask!} and the rest went in to the dumpster. R.I.P.
{I’m sorry, but what idiot decided that crumbling up insulation in the wall was an effective method of insulating the exterior wall of a house?} #callitlikeiseeit
{New sub floors… you know you are in desperate shape to want to see progress so bad that you are excited about new sub floors!}
{New insulation, installed properly, and a beautiful new tub!}
{Now here is where I start to get excited…. it’s starting to look like a new bathroom! My vision is coming together!}
So, I decided that since I wanted the house to flow…one room to the next… colors, fixtures, décor… that we’d choose the same tub, tile, similar custom vanity & counter design and fixtures as we did for the master bath {the adults did get the upgraded shower fixtures because, well, we’re adults and we deserve better don’t ya think?}. We went with a simple Apron front white cast iron Kohler tub and sink, extra wide white subway tiles with a deep gray grout, faux wood ceramic tile floors, creamy Cambria countertops and galvanized fixtures. To compliment the restored barn roof tin we used in the master bath, we decided to do the wall opposite the kids shower in white enameled tin… it’s such a cool little feature and as you know I LOVE to repurpose old treasures!
Simple white curtains {not hung when I took pics} , tongue & groove ceiling and of course some shiplap on the walls. D.O.N.E.
{I love how we chose a variety of textures but they all work seamlessly… the flooring, shiplap, tongue & groove, tin, etc.}
{Don’t you just love World Market, Target and Hobby Lobby?}
{I thought a little whimsical rug would be cool for this teenage space!}
{didn’t have the towel racks up yet but they are made out of our salvaged barnwood and galvanized hooks from Magnolia Market}
I am so in love with this large subway tile! It’s all so fresh and clean looking. Maybe I won’t let anyone actually use the new shower, cause isn’t it pretty?
Did you see part:1 of the renovation reveal… the exterior? Check it out here!

Amazing work. I’m convinced that you just don’t sleep.
Is “Bora Bora Shore the same paint as on the chicken coop door?
Mandy says
Thanks, Nancy! Ha… I do actually sleep… and spend more time in my jammies than I probably should. Bora Bora Shore is a lighter version of what is on the coop door. Same color family, just didn’t want to go so dark on the house doors.
