I don’t know about you, but I get kinda curious what people’s “zones” look like. Whether it be your craft zone, book reading zone, sewing zone, journaling or blogging zone, wood-working zone, essential oil zone, cooking zone, jewelry making zone, gardening zone, etc… What is that place you go to for that special hobby, de-stressing or nurturing of yourself? How is it organized? What’s your favorite part about it?
If you don’t have a special “zone”, what do you dream about having? Or is yours just an uninviting mess and in need of some TLC {which causes more stress}?
Today we’ll take a behind the scenes look at my Extreme DIY Zone. I am blessed. Abundantly blessed that I got to claim our sun-room as my DIY space! It was the kids’ playroom when they were little and needed more supervision, but when they were big enough to have their own “little zone” upstairs I jumped on the opportunity to have this space. It has so much natural light and is near our kitchen where I practically live. And.it’s.BIG! Then hubby installed a sink for me which may seem like nothing much, but let me tell ya how awesome it is to be able to wash paint brushes and rubber stamps or my messy hands without carrying stuff through the family room.
Gotta clean your mess up!
It’s in this space that I make homemade cards, document our families lives through scrapbooking {for myself and customers}, write my blog posts, research essential oil stuff, take care of everything homeschool related, paint, wrap gifts, etc. It’s kind of like our family “Command Center” too, cause I have that super fun job of paying bills, etc. {whoopee!}. It’s also the place where if the kids get called in and the door gets shut behind them, they are about to have a “talk” with mom! #notfun
Pics that make you smile are a must!
Cutting & Gluing & Paper punching department!
Organizing your paper & scraps makes it much easier to get started!
Flowers & Ribbon & doodads, oh my!
Rubber Stamping takes up lots of my space!
Then there is all the other tools & doodads!
Sure, this space would be awesome with some comfy furniture and some plants and books, etc. and maybe it will evolve someday but for now it’s MY space. The Woman Cave. The She Shed. The DIY Zone. The “Don’t knock on my door unless your arm is falling off” zone. Yes, the kids, even as teenagers, press their faces against my glass door when they want me. I ask to see proof that their arm is falling off or the house is on fire before I allow access.
So, whether you have a designated room of your own or can carve out a little area here or there {or even have a “to go” container to take your “zone” with you}, it’s important to embrace your own space…have a place to retreat to nourish our heart, mind and soul!
