Ok peeps! I PROMISE you this is E.A.S.Y.
You will wonder why on earth you have continued to buy this stuff at the store!
Here are 3 super-duper simple and inexpensive ways you can start to bring natural solutions in to your home.
Who wants to put ingredients on your skin that you can’t pronounce? YUCK! Your skin IS a sponge… it absorbs what you put on it. Are you with me? Go ahead, grab a bottle from your shower and read through the ingredients? How many can you pronounce? How many do you actually know what they are? This doesn’t mean we need to beat ourselves up if we have store bought soap in our house… I still do… I use it when I need to if I am in a pinch or if we have a house full of extra peeps. No guilt.
Yes… I know… this does take time and you do have to buy some ingredients to get the ball rolling.
So, yes, your first batch may carry a price tag that makes you question why on earth you are even considering it! But listen… when you divide up the gazillion refills you will make out of those ingredients, your cost to make each batch is pennies! And as far as your time? It takes me 5 minutes total to refill all 3 bottles which I only need to do maybe once per month. These recipes are so concentrated…you only need a half a squirt! Honestly, the last time I refilled the shave cream was at least 2 months ago!
In order for me to even be able to sleep tonight I must give you a warning so please take this seriously….
You W.I.L.L. get hooked. This will evolve in to DIY lotions and potions and toothpaste and cleaning supplies, etc. Can I get a signed statement that you acknowledge understanding of this risk?
So, let’s dig in to the actual recipes.
You will notice that they have shared ingredients which is another reason these recipes are so cost effective and are so quick to refill.

I typically do Melaleuca & Lavender due to their skin soothing properties but you can decide what is best for your skin. If hubby wants to use it then Melaleuca or Sandalwood are great… whatever scent he likes really, but if you can put even a drop or two of Melaleuca or Lavender in there too for soothing properties, it’s great.
A few notes:
- Leave room when filling the containers with water because the pump mechanism takes up some space!
- There is no emulsifier in these products so you will have to give them a very gentle shake prior to use as they tend to separate if left sitting for an extended time.
- The plastic pump mechanisms do wear out over time (especially with citrus oils)..but I didn’t replace mine for at least a year and they are cheap to replace so no biggie!
- Remember, these recipes are very concentrated… 1/2 a pump of hand soap or shave cream is more than enough! I use a full pump for body wash cause’ there is more square footage to cover!!!!
- If you don’t want to invest in the jojoba or sweet almond oil (great for your face too), you can use fractioned coconut oil… it’s just not as thick.
- Besides the Therapeutic Grade Essential Oils I find most of my ingredients on Amazon or any local health food store or natural market.
